Life is Precious

This past weekend Alec and I were touched by a funeral service for a very dear and beautiful person. All through out the meeting, she was often referred to by family members and friends as a "beautiful person inside and out," and she truly was. I can't think of a better word to describe one's self or one's life. She brought sunshine and light to all she met, and I feel very privileged to have known her. How saddened I am to think how young she was when she passed, but how impressed I am by the way she lived her life. Adventurous Lisa, delightful Lisa, and Beautiful Lisa-we love you.

4 Years and Still Rockin'

We've had good times

We've had rough times

And pets.

But even when life has been scary

We've found the light in life

And we've been able to smile

Relax

And enjoy the sunsets

Much love

Summer time, and the livin's easy

This summer has been kind to us. Here's some of the stuff we've been doing.

Slip and slide at Shriner's Hospital with the youth
Mandarin birthday dinner

Boating at Jordanelle
Fun with the camera late at night
Fun with the cousins
Biking

Nothing like a game of golf

We have had to make up for a rough first part of the year by playing hard. Here's to good times.

Peg Leg Bode

So we were hanging out with Megan's grandparents in Alpine the other day and our dog Bode got a little carried away playing out in the yard.  Bode was chasing Megan and twisted his body in mid-air while jumping at her and landed on his right hind leg on the concrete of the back patio, the poor sucker.  At first Bode seemed fine, and he would only whine a little bit when you would touch his leg, but other than that he didn't make a sound.  I thought it was just a sprain, and Megan thought it was worse, but we decided to let it sit overnight.  When Bode was still favoring that leg the next day, we took him to the vet, and the vet called me back later that day to tell me that Bode had busted his fibula!  Megan was right!  So they put this funny-looking cast on him and he's been humiliated ever since.

The good news is that we have been trying to train Bode not to jump up on us all of the time, so hopefully this time with a cast and a busted leg will learn him.  He also always used to be so quiet and sneak up behind you, and we would always trip on him, but not anymore thanks to his new peg leg!

The 4th of Joo-Ly

We spent the 4th of July weekend with family and loved every minute of it.  We started the weekend up in Park City with our cousins and ended it at the Rampton 4th of July Barbeque Spectacular featuring the Sugarhouse Park fireworks.  Here are some of the photos of our patriotic weekend which included nothing patriotic other than the fireworks now that I think of it... but it was all done in America.

We hit a few buckets at the range up in Park City.  Those range mats were hot on my bare feet, and the driver shaft didn't taste as good as I had hoped.

We put those buckets on our heads for a photo.  I actually hit the ball better with the bucket on.

Megan posing with her bike and matching jacket.  Don't let her smile deceive you, on the bike she's all business.

Killer Spoons

We played a bunch of games with our cousins.  This video shows a round of us playing Spoons, but instead of leaving the spoons in the middle of the table to grab, we put them about fifty yards away from the table and had to hurdle the deck fence and run and grab them.  It was awesome!  Enjoy the video - especially the part where Megan eats it!

Good times.
